What Numen is
Numen is a notes and follow-through app. You save notes by typing, speaking, or sharing from other apps. Numen files each note, shows you where it put it, and later asks whether you did the thing you said you’d do. Your notes are stored as plain text files on your own device, and you can copy them all out at any time, free, on every plan.
Your account
You need an account for some features. You’re responsible for keeping your sign-in details safe and for what happens under your account. You must be at least 13 years old to use Numen.
Paid plans, billing, and cancellation
Paid subscriptions are sold through Polar Software, Inc. (“Polar”), which acts as the merchant of record. That means Polar is the seller of the subscription to you: it processes your payment, handles applicable sales tax and VAT, and its name may appear on your bank or card statement. Card processing is handled by Stripe.
Prices are shown at checkout before you pay. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you’ve already paid for, and you keep access until then. Cancelling never locks your notes — copying them out is free on every plan, always.
Your notes stay yours
You own everything you save in Numen. We claim no rights over your notes beyond what’s needed to run the service for you. Your notes are written to your device first, and you can export all of them at any time at no cost.
Optional AI features
Two features — filing a note and turning speech into text — can use AI services run by other companies. They are optional. If you turn them on, the text or audio needed for that job is sent to those providers, as described in our Privacy Policy. If you leave them off, that content is not sent.
What you can’t do
Don’t break the service, don’t break the law with it, don’t try to get into systems or data that aren’t yours, and don’t resell access to your account.
Availability and changes
We work to keep Numen running, but we don’t promise it will be available at every moment. Because your notes live on your own device as plain text files, an outage — or Numen going away entirely — doesn’t take your notes with it. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll tell you by email or in the app before the change takes effect.
Liability
Numen is provided “as is.” To the extent the law allows, Numen is not liable for indirect or consequential losses — lost profits, lost data you didn’t store locally, missed deadlines — arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, and nothing here reduces any statutory consumer rights you have.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Numen is registered, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you’re a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
